A car is one of the biggest investments that you will make in your life. Once you spend thousands of dollars on a new car, you want to make sure the car will last a long time. One of the ways car manufacturers calm the nerves of buyers is by offering warranties on all of their new vehicles. This allows you to get any problems repaired without putting out any extra money out of your pocket. Here is exactly what the most common car warranties will cover.

Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty

The bumper-to-bumper warranty covers virtually every aspect of your vehicle. There are only a few small areas on the car not covered by this extensive warranty. The uncovered areas include the tires, glass and interior trim. Luckily, these are usually the areas that offer the cheapest repairs. Since this warranty is so inclusive, it is generally the shortest warranty offered on your new car.

Powertrain Warranty

The powertrain warranty covers every component that helps power the car’s engine. This includes everything inside the engine, transmission and drivetrain. Even the small joints and belts are covered. This is a very important warranty because these parts are often very expensive to repair. The powertrain warranty typically lasts slightly longer than the bumper-to-bumper warranty.

Corrosion Warranty

A corrosion warranty protects your new car from damage caused by rust. While this is generally not a huge problem with modern cars, it is still nice to get the extra protection. Once a part of the car starts to show any signs of rust, you can get it fixed. The great thing about corrosion warranties is that there are no restrictions based on the miles driven by your car. This warranty will last from five to 12 years depending on the manufacturer of your new car.

Roadside Assistance Warranty

While it used to only be offered on new luxury vehicles, the roadside assistance warranty is now provided with almost every new car. This warranty protects you against car emergencies that leave you stranded on the side of the road. Flat tires and dead batteries will be fixed on the spot. If the car cannot be driven, then you can get it towed back to the dealer for free.
